Nederland, CO - The Board of Trustees and Sustainability Advisory Board of the Town of Nederland are thrilled to announce a partnership with CarShare to introduce a community vehicle initiative as part of the 2024 budget. This innovative collaboration reflects the town's commitment to sustainability and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

As part of this partnership, the Town of Nederland, in conjunction with Colorado CarShare, will be offering exclusive benefits to residents. Residents can sign up at Carshare.org and use promo code NEDFREE_EV for the following benefits:

  • Application fee waived - a $25 Value.

  • $25 in Drive Credits.

This initiative aims to promote accessibility to sustainable transportation options while reducing individual ownership costs.

The centerpiece of this initiative is the introduction of a shared electric vehicle, which will be available for reservation starting February 14th. The vehicle will be conveniently located at 45 West First Street, Nederland, CO 80466, in the Visitors Center Parking Lot. Residents will have the flexibility to reserve the vehicle for as little as 15 minutes or for extended periods, catering to various transportation needs.

CarShare provides the convenience of accessing a vehicle when needed, eliminating the hassle and expenses associated with individual vehicle ownership and maintenance. Recognizing the importance of sustainable infrastructure, the Town of Nederland anticipates installing a dual-port fast charger by fall 2024 to accommodate the growing demand for electric vehicles.

The decision to enroll in this program aligns with the town's commitment to providing alternative transportation sources and meeting energy transportation goals. Studies have shown that one CarShare vehicle can replace 9-13 single occupancy vehicles, significantly reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions.

The official launch of the community vehicle initiative is scheduled for Valentine's Day, February 14th, symbolizing the town's love for sustainability and community welfare. Colorado CarShare, a non-profit organization operating over 60-shared vehicles along the Front Range, will oversee the operation of the electric vehicles for this program.
