A Message from the Town of Nederland Board of Trustees
It has now been two weeks since the fire, and in the wake of the emergency response efforts, the entire Board of Trustees wanted to share a few words.
First, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our emergency responders and town staff for their tireless work and steadfast commitment to protecting our community. Your courage and dedication have been nothing short of extraordinary.
At the October 14 Board of Trustees meeting, Town Manager Jonathan Cain provided an update outlining the extensive work that’s been done to respond to the crisis and support those affected. The meeting recording is available online for anyone who would like to hear more details. In addition, town staff has published an FAQ document with helpful information and resources for those seeking updates or assistance. We’re grateful to our staff for creating and maintaining this resource for the community.
Our hearts are with the business owners and employees who have been directly impacted by this tragedy. We know this is an incredibly difficult time, and we want you to know that the entire Board stands beside you. We are committed to doing everything we can to support your recovery and help our downtown rebuild.
We also want to extend heartfelt thanks to the Nederland residents who have stepped up to help — from raising funds to offering space, supplies, and time. To our neighbors and friends beyond Nederland who have reached out with generosity and encouragement — your care means more than words can say. Thank you especially to Governor Polis and Congressman Neguse for coming to Nederland to witness the devastation firsthand, and to show your support.
We recognize that the road ahead will be long, but we are confident that we’ll get through it together. The resilience, compassion, and strength this community has shown continue to inspire us every day. We are proud — and profoundly grateful — to call Nederland home. Together, we will recover and emerge stronger than ever.
