Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another edition of the Nederland Mayor's Corner (AKA "The Billy Pulpit)!
On the 10/11 Work Session, the Board of Trustees discussed the 2023 budget.
On 10/18, the BOT approved the appointment of trustees to the Town Boards and Commission, approved a RFP to secure a contractor to do our Housing Needs Assessment, heard a presentation on the Mobility and Access for All Ages and Abilities program, approved the moratorium on the enforcement of off-street parking requirements for businesses in the Central Business District and payments into the commercial Parking Fund, refunded the money currently in the Commercial Parking Fund, debated and narrowly approved an increase to the Nederland Downtown Development Authority Certificate of Deposit, and discussed some potential changes to the STR Ordinance. We also shared Staff Reports and Trustee Reports.
On the 10/25 Work Session, the BOT discussed the 2023 budget.
This past 11/1, we started with an Executive Session to discuss matters related to the Town Administrator position. After that, we approved an amendment of the Disposal of Public Lands Policy to require review and recommendation by the Planning Commission before the BOT considers an application related to Town property or Town right-of-way, approved a resolution proclaiming November as Family Court Awareness Month, heard an update from our Sustainability Coordinator and then Sustainability Advisory Board member Larry Tasaday, Appointed Timmy Duggan to the Planning Commission, appointed Steve Cepek, David McElvain and Ryan Villalon to the Board of Zoning Adjustment, approved the request to vacate an alleyway north of Second Street, agreed with the Town's recommendation to opt out of the state-run Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program, and discussed the Good Neighbor Guidelines. We plan to revisit our 2023-2024 BOT Goals later in November. We then returned to Executive Session to further discuss matters related to the Town Administrator position.
Through November, we will be working on the 2023 budget, the annexation ordinance, annexation agreement and IGA, a Good Neighbor Policy, an updated on the Master Infrastructure Plan, and the Solar Ordinance.
