It gives me great pleasure to let you all know that after a national search and much decision making the board has selected a finalist for the post of fire chief.
We had 27 applications for the post and the standard of applications was extremely high. After much deliberation the board narrowed the choice from 4 available and qualified candidates to one.
I spoke to the finalist this morning and he accepted the post. Our new chief will be Chief Mike Scott, currently a training division chief at the department of fire prevention and control. Mike has a long history in fire and EMS and brings with him a great deal of experience that will help us move forward and improve. I have attached his resume if you wish to read it. There are still a few statutory hoops that we have to jump though but I am confident that Mike will be joining us in January.
Mike will be present in the department on Saturday evening from 6pm for a meet-and-greet session to meet any of you who would like to meet him. This will also be a public meeting under the Colorado Open Meeting Laws and available on Zoom. He will also be present at our awards dinner on the 18th for those of you that cannot make Saturday. Please make the effort to come and meet him, I know some of you have already met or know Mike. He will be there to answer any questions that you have and listen to your plans for the department and share his vision for us.
The board and I believe that this is an incredible chance to make change in the department and take us on a journey that none of us could have imagined a few months ago.
Please welcome to the department Chief Mike Scott.
