The Nederland Public Art Committee (NPAC) has been offered 6-8 picnic tables for artful decoration during the summer of 2023. The tables are located in front of Nederland's newest mural in the garden area behind Busey Brews and the Deli. The concept behind the project is a community based, all ages invited, collaborative event for ages 11 and up. This project is intended as an opportunity for local youth to work together with adult artists in the spirit of the community.
The NPAC is looking for a lead artist to spearhead this project, with the ability to carry out the following duties:
- Enjoy working with multi age groups in the spirit of Mountain Community collaboration. Enjoy working with people, especially local youth.
- Help guide the design process for artist groups. The Lead Artist will help this to be a learning experience for newer or less experienced artists by focusing on design, composition, uniqueness, color palette, painting technique, and application.
- Keep the design & theme of the picnic tables consistent with the mission and preferred themes that the NPAC has identified through other works of public art around Town.
- Manage pacing and progress as we all work together during Paint Out week (July 10th - 17th). The Lead Artist will work to keep things fun and interesting, while being welcoming to the community and achieving all completion goals.
- Serves as a point of contact for any trouble shooting, interesting moments, and documentation for the NPAC.
- Organizes and manages all needed materials for the project, utilizing a budget of $1,200 prior to the project start date.
- Meets with all registered table artists on June 3rd at Teens Inc for an organizational meeting, from 9am - 11am.
- Will receive a $1,500 stipend for all duties upon completion of the tables.
