HB24-1454 QUARTERLY PROGRESS-TO-DATE REPORT

On May 24, 2024, Colorado approved HB24-1454, which grants Colorado public entities a one-year extension to be fully compliant with HB21-1110 – Colorado Laws for Persons with Disabilities. To qualify for this extension, a government entity must meet the following three criteria:

  • Make good faith efforts toward resolution of a complaint of noncompliance;

  • Create a clear, easy-to-find process that is prominently displayed on all front-facing web pages for requesting redress for inaccessible digital products, including contact options that are not dependent on web access; and

  • Create and post on front-facing web pages a progress-to-date report that is updated quarterly and demonstrates concrete and specific efforts toward compliance with the OIT rules.

By meeting these criteria, the Town of Nederland qualifies for the July 2025 extension by HB24-1454.

 

Efforts Towards Compliance with HB21-1110

The Town of Nederland is currently reviewing its front-facing web pages to ensure that they all comply with the OIT Accessibility Standards.

  • The Town of Nederland’s official website, https://townofnederland.colorado.gov/ is hosted by SIPA, a State in-house provider, providing much of the back-end work to ensure the site is in compliance with HB21-1110.

  • Despite this, the Town of Nederland must work to ensure that content on websites comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and Office of Information Technology Rules, Establishing Technology Accessibility Standards. This includes all text, links, images, forms, PDFs, documents, and embedded third-party applications.

  • This review also applies to other websites that fall under the jurisdiction of the Town of Nederland, but are hosted elsewhere, such as https://nederdays.com/ and https://www.nederlanddowntown.org/

  • An accessible alternate version of any piece of content can be requested by reaching out to Peter Cacek, Public Engagement Manager for the Town of Nederland at engagement@nederlandco.org, or by phone at (720) 514-9465.

Once each website has been evaluated for accessibility, the Town of Nederland will develop an accessibility plan to address the existing deficiencies.
